In Spring 2025 I was asked to help refresh a rural cottage in Staffordshire that was being prepared as a self-catering holiday let. The property consisted of a living/dining area and three bedrooms, and the client had a limited budget but several existing pieces of furniture she hoped to incorporate.

My role was to help create a cohesive, welcoming interior that would appeal to guests while making the best use of what the client already owned. I advised on paint colours for the living/dining area and all three bedrooms, ensuring the palette complemented the cottage setting and created a calm, relaxing atmosphere for visitors.

I also sourced soft furnishings, including curtains, and accompanied the client when purchasing key items to ensure everything worked together aesthetically and practically. In addition, I advised on the essential practical elements required for a successful self-catering holiday cottage, helping the client think through the details that make guests feel comfortable and well looked after.

Almost a year after completion, the cottage has been extremely busy with bookings. The client reports that guests frequently comment on the interior, the thoughtful facilities and the welcoming feel of the property.

Client Feedback

“I cannot recommend Zoe highly enough. She took the time to understand my personal style and preferences to present my holiday cottage in the best way, incorporating items that I already had. She came back with designs that were spot on and brought so many creative ideas and valuable advice to the table that I never would have considered myself. I’m over the moon with the new design in all rooms and wouldn’t hesitate to use Zoe again in the future.”
